Looking for a good honeymoon spot! [14 Jul 2010|07:17pm]

falan
Hey folks!

I'm a Vancouverite currently brainstorming ideas for a groom-planned honeymoon for after my August 9th wedding and I thought that takin' a little road-trip south of the border might be a good idea. I'm looking for a really good B&B, it can be a little expensive but nothing outrageous (but really, so long as I'm getting a great experience I'm not averse to an outright bargain either ^_~). If you know of anything that I might be interested in then send it my way please :D

-M

p.s. I'll get spitted and roasted if it sucks so please make it good!

dragonabsolut
Hey there, folks!

I'm new to the area, Burlington specifically, and looking around for some new friends. I'm 30, and a safe and normal kinda dude. I'm pretty openminded, and also openly gay. I consider myself a neo-pagan, but thats just a fancy way of saying "spiritual".

Likes:
laughing, movies, mohawks, camping, Canada, kick-ass rock and roll and booty-shaking pop, Dungeons and Dragons, concerts, dancing, good books, funny pictures of cats with captions, tattoos and piercings, drag queens, boats, karaoke, comic books, neo-hippies, 30 Rock, checking out hot dudes, spirituality, good coffee, 420, finding hidden trails in the forests, animals, Deception Pass, ur face.

Dislikes:
bad attitudes and small minds, hard drugs, shopping without a purpose, heavy metal, small dogs, right-wing conservatives, social awkwardness, Donnie Darko, people with nothing to say, ur Mom.

Hit me up folks, I need to make some local friends! Help me get out of the house and find some fun in this town.

I should mention that at this time, I have no car. But I ain't too proud to take the bus.

Also... I say dude a lot. I mean... A LOT. Just sayin

Have you ever been a member of Bellingham Fitness on State Street?

When you left, was your cancellation form "lost" and you were charged for several months of membership that you were not using? When you tried to straighten it out, were told too bad, so sad, pay up?

I am trying to get in touch with anyone who had this experience at Bellingham Fitness. Please contact me. Maybe as a group we can change things.

Kitty Needs Home ASAP [23 Oct 2009|04:30pm]

fire_fire_whoo

Skeeter, a 2 year old male cat, part Maine Coon and experienced mouser, is up for adoption. He is energetic, extremely affectionate, and needs your help immediately. Once the store cat at Hohl's Feed and Seed, he was found to be a companion the owners were no longer willing to keep. Now he is being housed with the head of Whatcom Voice of the Animals; however, this situation is temporary. If he does not find a home in two weeks, he will be put down. Skeeter's ideal home would be free of other cats. All veterinary papers available.

Interested? Please call 360-920-8155. Thank you.

New in town... [03 Sep 2009|09:09pm]

[ mood | excited ]

Hi! I'm Sarah, I'm 25, and I moved here last month. I have an apartment in the sehome area and am looking for a full-time admin job. I'd love to connect with other people near me and make some new friends! Now for my questions...

I have a guinea pig. Are there local feed stores that carry bulk quantities of: guinea pig pellet food, pine shaving bedding, and Timothy hay? Does anyone know of a good exotic vet in the area? I'd love to connect with other guinea pig owners in town, for piggy play dates, swapping piggy-sitting for vacations, etc.

Where are the 3-5 nearest sandy beach access points? I'm thrilled to live so close to the ocean now, I just need to know where to go to enjoy it.

Are there any local card/board game or movie groups I could connect with? I'm looking forward to making some new friends.

Thanks much! =)

The Potato Burrito [13 Jul 2009|03:54am]

salivar
Dear Bellingham:

The other day I was on a lunch break from basketball camp and I had a potato burrito. Now, I had never before had a potato burrito but was aware of its history.

Back in 2000 I was a sophomore in high school and read an article in the student newspaper extolling the benefits of the potato burrito. The article boiled down to saying "You're either going to love it or hate it." So that stuck with me. Flash forward a couple years to when I was trudging through life at Whatcom Community College and my burrito obsession turned towards Bandito's Burritos and their Ranch Burrito and biker lifestyle support. Still no sign of me snagging a potato burrito, however people had the audacity to compare any burrito in any conversation I ever had about them to Casa Que Pasa's potato burrito. Somehow I avoided purchasing one through all the conversation.

In 2006 Casa Que Pasa closed. In 2007, somehow, the Potato Burrito's secret recipe found its way to the menu at the horseshoe cafe. Again, somehow I avoided it. Then the big day finally happened: Casa que Pasa reopened its doors. Finally the Potato Burrito would come home. Then again I was still not brave enough to attempt it.

I went to Casa Que again on my own accord. What did I get? Fish Tacos. I had decided it was time to get them because I really do like fish tacos, but these ones left a little to be desired. It was finally time to jump into the world of the Potato Burrito.

So I went and I got my burrito, sat down with my friends and, with a bent fork, dug in. I don't know what all the fuss was about. Nine years of hearing about this and... it's a burrito with a super thick flour tortilla I can't cut through. Alright, but not to die for.

Now to get another one and see if my theory is true.

Okay, Bellingham... [20 Mar 2009|07:03pm]

If you've been following BSG you know tonight is the last frakkin' episode.

If you want to see it on something other than your home TV, the Rogue Squadron (myself, Wilson Large, James Gillies, Eric Bute, JB Stiglitz...) are proud to host the last new BSG at the Pickford Cinema.

Showtime is 1015 tonight. Admission is free. Buy some popcorn and show some love.

And if you are recording it, it runs 2 hours 11 minutes. Miss the last 10 minutes and you'll wish you were airlocked :)
